Trend Micro OS Protection is a security enhancement package for Windows Vista™ users running Trend Micro Internet Security (PC-cillin™). This package provides two enhancements:

• Firewall Booster
• Pre-Startup Scan

Firewall Booster

Firewall Booster allows Trend Micro Internet Security to take advantage of the capabilities of the Windows Vista firewall. It enhances your protection against Web threats and unauthorized access.

Pre-Startup Scan

Most security threats, like many programs, run on Windows. Pre-Startup Scan finds and eliminates viruses and spyware before Windows starts – before these threats can affect your computer and thwart attempts to remove them.

Using Trend Micro OS Protection

Firewall Booster enhances you firewall protection in the background. To use it, you simply install it. After the installation, you can still access the same firewall settings and features on the Trend Micro Internet Security interface.

Pre-Startup Scan adds an icon to your Windows desktop. Double-click the icon to perform a scan or configure the product. Pre-Startup Scan automatically creates a restore point to back up your system settings when initiating a scan. As soon as Pre-Startup Scan completes the backup, you can select whether Pre-Startup Scan immediately restarts your computer or waits until your next restart to perform the scan.
